As promised, Jolla’s ‘something big is coming’ suspense has been revealed and just like how Nokia pulled out a surprise last night, it’s another tablet amongst us. Jolla has entered into the bigger arena with a competitively priced, but powerfully wrapped Jolla tablet.
The company laid out teaser banner on its website earlier this week, mentioning the date 19 November and now the product has been announced. The tablet comes with a 7.9 inch QuadHD display with 2048x1536p resolution and powered by Sailfish OS v2.0 which is the first platform upgrade from the Finnish company.
Under the hood, Jolla tablet packs a 1.8 GHz quad-core 64-bit Intel chipset paired alongside with 2GB RAM and offering expandable storage up to 32GB as well. Tablets these days are incomplete with their set of cameras and Jolla tablet has a 5MP unit at the back and a 2MP shooter on the front. Not the slimmest tablet you’ll find the market right now but still at 8.3 mm dimension and 384 grams, Jolla tablet has the right credentials to offer the portability factor of a tablet. For connectivity, there’s Wi-Fi, Bluetooth 4.0, GPS supporting GLONASS, and varied kinds of sensors in tow as well. All this and you’ll find the tablet backed up by a 4300 mAh battery.
The most intriguing part about the Jolla tablet is the company’s decision to price it at USD $189. Their practice of connecting with developers and consumers will be fairly visible yet again. And this time, Jolla has roped in Indiegogo, the crowd-funding channel to get the word out, across the globe to potential buyers.
Jolla phone is currently available in the country, so we can surely expect India to feature among the markets that will be getting Jolla tablet in the foreseeable future. Stay tuned
